DETAILS

Before the presentation, enjoy a light reception on the brick patio in front of the Transportation Building. Be sure to step inside and see Sharlot M. Hall's Durant "Star" convertible, purchased in 1927 for $737. Then, just before 5:30, head over to the Education Center Auditorium for a step back in time as Jody Drake brings to life her incredible journey of portraying Sharlot Hall for 30 years. (In the event of bad weather, the reception will be held in the lobby of the Education Center.) Jody first portrayed Sharlot Hall in 1994 in a show called "Soul of Yesterday" by Karla Burkett. It was performed at the museum amphitheater and the Elk's Theater. Over the next 30 years, Jody brought Sharlot to life, not only across Arizona but also in California, New Mexico, Texas, and Utah. "Celebrating the Years with Sharlot" will feature Jody’s favorite poetry and share fascinating stories from her experiences. In this special evening, Jody will bring to life how it felt to travel as Sharlot for three decades and hundreds of performances. Born and raised in Prescott, Arizona, Jody has an impressive career that includes writing, and producing 22 historical plays, developing and training a dozen first-person presenters, and portraying Sharlot M. Hall, a historical figure of significant cultural importance, throughout the Western United States.
